PGA Tour: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am..
There are 4 Canadians at this year's annual pro-am on the 3 courses (Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, Monterey Peninsula) that make up one of the most expensive week's on the PGA Tour calendar.
The event which used to be a quaint little Bing Crosby 'clambake" that morphed into a must see week with Presidents in attendance with Arnie and Jack etal has become a huge, expensive, slow moving corporate America outing which quite frankly isn't a lot of top players "'cup of tea". That combined with the lurking threat of bad weather on the Monterey peninsula, and the fact that next week in Phoenix is an elevated "designated" tournament means there isn't a lot of star power here this year.
For me it has lost all it's umph and as you can see below the only player in the world's top 10 is Matt Fitzpatrick from England.
Notables: Jordan Spieth (#16), Viktor Hovland (#11), Matt Fitzpatrick,(#10)
TV coverage Golf Channel and CBS where Trevor Immelman has replaced Nick Faldo (thank goodness) but Jim Nantz will still be cooing away about the magnificent scenery, Ian Baker Finch, Frank Nobilo and Dottie Pepper are solid pros, Trevor's brother Mark is also on course as is Colt Knost as of 2021
Canadians:
Abbotsford’s Nick Taylor holds high the trophy at Pebble Beach 2020
Michael Gligic 9.58am 1st (PB) hasn't made a cut yet this 2023 season
Taylor Pendrith 10.09 1st (SH) made the cut last week at Torrey Pines
Ben Silverman 9.03 1st (SH) won recently on the Korn Ferry Tour and is here on a sponsors invite
Nick Taylor 9.36 10th (MP) won here in February 10th 2020
