Weir has the low round of the day, Hovland cruises to defend title at Mayakoba.. final scoreboards

PGA Tour Champions : Timber Tech Championship final scoreboard here.

After opening with a poor 78 Mike Weir got steadily better with 72 the finished in style with the low round of the day at the Old Course at Broken Sound a bogey free, 7 birdie 65, including 5 in his last 5 holes.

He now progresses to the Charles Schwab Cup final this week in Phoenix in 8th place.

Stephen Ames will join him in 22nd place after finishing the weekend T30th at E, 70 72 4.

The story of the week was 50 year old rookie Steve Alker 68 63 68 -17 who has toiled on tours around the world, including the Korn Ferry Tour. He had only played sparingly on the PGA Tour, but 7 weeks ago Monday qualified for the Boeing Championship, and after a slew of top 10's he held off Miguel Jimenez and Jim Fuyk  (both -15) for his first Champions Tour win and a place at #22 in the Charles Schwab Cup final next week.

PGA Tour: World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba final scoreboard here

I've been touring this sensational young Norwegian for several years, Viktor Hovland, and yesterday he cruised to a 4 shot defense of his title, 67, 65 62 67 -23, ahead of home hero Carlos Ortiz, 67 65 67 66 -19.

Alex Goodlett

He's young and extremely fit, a superb ball striker and a great putter, and will be a factor on this tour and Europe's Ryder Cup team for years to come.

Canadian scores: Nick Taylor T33, 67 69 67 71 -10, Adam Svensson T45 72 65 74 65 -8 and Adam Hadwin T56 69 68 69 71 -7.
