PGA Tour: Tour Championship scoreboard here.
With just one bogey on his card, it was a very steady start to this Tour Championship for Canada's lone representative, Corey Connors, 4 birdies and all the rest pars 67 on this iconic East Lake course in Atlanta.
Remember this convoluted scoring system has a staggered start with the #1 seed in the Fed Ex Championship, Patrick Cantley beginning play at -10 before he hits a shot, and the shot allocation continues down to the #30 ranked player.
At #27 Connors began at -1, so his -3 67 sees him at -4 T17. However to consider how well he played, the lowest score in round 1 was a 65 by Jon Rahm and Billy Horschel, so without the handicapping system, he would just be 2 shots off the lead as opposed to 9 behind with Cantley at -13 in the lead after his 67.
