Sergio Garcia began his day with a 4 shot lead after a masterful -8 64 on Thursday and soon extended that to five, but some sloppy play and a charge by Louis Oosthuizen reduced the lead to 1, and opened the floodgates for the rest of the contenders in this Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Garcia signed for a 71 -9 total but fellow major Champion Oosthuizen came home in 32 for a 67 -8 total and emerge as the nearest challenger at Gary Player Country Club.
However with 36 holes to play guys like Finn Mikko Korhonen -6, Dylan Frittelli, English pair Aaron Rai and Lee Westwood, and Ireland's Shane Lowry all at -4 are right back in contention.
Sergio was cruising along out in 33 -11 total, however 3 bogey's in his last 6 holes, including a 3 putt at the 18th dropped him to -9.
However he still has the lead despite his finish and the way he is striking the ball on this shot maker's golf course should keep him in contention come Sunday afternoon.
