USGA Senior Open leaderboard http://www.usga.org/championships/2016/u-s--senior-open/scoring.html
It is absurd to hold such a prestigious event as your country's national championship for golfers 50 or over (PGA Tour Champions) but that is what is happening this weekend, as all eyes are on the game's return to the Olympics and the Champions Tour presents it's US Senior Open at the Scioto GC in Columbus Ohio.
Stephen Ames seems to excel on tough courses and after 2 rounds he is T4 after he added five birdies 68 to his opening 70 for a -2 total . Rod Spittle is further back after a 70 and is T58 +7.
Joey Sindelar shot a -4 66 to take the second-round lead after a first round 69, to sit at -5 overall.
Billy Mayfair, making his first senior start after turning 50 last Saturday, was a stroke back after a 67. He had four birdies and a bogey.
Rain is forecast for today so the field will play in threesomes starting at 7:30 a.m (est)
