The men's golf competition begins on Thursday, the women the week following...

Glen Day shot a -7 65 to take the first-round lead in the PGA Tour Champions’ 3M Championship on TPC Twin Cities , one of the tour's easiest courses. Players used to call him All Day because he took so long to play !

Canadian, Rod Spittle shot -6 66 as did Jeff Maggert good for T2 with Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Woody Austin, Kevin Sutherland, Carlos Franco, Scott Dunlap, Bart Bryant and Jean-Francois Remesy all in a group at -5 67.

Sweden's Alex Noren who won the Scottish Open a month or so ago at Castle Stuart continues his fine form on links courses and  he faces James Morrison in this afternoon’s semi-finals.

The other semi-final will be an all-English affair between Anthony Wall and Oliver Fisher.

Two Canadians made the cut on the Web.com Tour, Roger Sloan 70 64 T18, and Ryan Yip 70 67 T60. The leader down in Kansas is American Chris Smith 65 64 -13.

Naomi Ko is your newly minted Canadian Junior Girls champion, and earlier Sam Meek won the Canadian Junior Boys title, so two more youngsters to watch.
