Russell Henley leads soggy Tour Championship... scoreboard / tee times/ weather

PGA Tour : Tour Championship Tee Times Leaderboard

I wrote yesterday about the wet weather forecast for Atlanta this week where the Tour Championship is being held as usual at the par 70 East Lake course.

Well it was soft after all the rain on Wednesday, and will remain soft, combined with the decision to play preferred lies, the pros just took it apart in round 1 before the rain arrived again, and has been falling all night.

Russell Henley, always a good putter had six one putts in a row at one point, leads it, -9 61.

Scott Scheffler needs no help from Mother Nature, but when you let him tee it up for every shot, it just means all the rest better join the birdie fest. He is in with -7 63

Five guys are in with -6 64, Morikawa, Thomas and Cantlay who will all be in the Ryder Cup team, and Fleetwood and MacIntyre who will also be in the Ryder Cup.

Rory shot -4 66 T8 aided and abetted by a skulled greenside bunker shot at the 18th that bounced off the grandstand back to 20 feet, where he promptly made his birdie 4, much to his and Scheffler's delight.

Canadians

Nick Taylor T12  67

Corey Conners T23 70

WEATHER : (issued by the PGA Tour Communications)

Guest column: Five steps to prepare your event for severe weather - ConventionSouth

Today will remain mostly cloudy with scattered showers in the morning and scattered thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Storms will be slow moving and could produce locally heavy rainfall across Metro Atlanta.

Temperatures will be cooler, but humidity will remain high. Sunset 8.15pm.

They will play preferred lies again today, expect the late wave (leaders) to have stoppages due to the weather. Play is moved up to begin at 8am.
