Surging finish has Cockerill in contention at Alfred Dunhill Championship... round 1 results

With four birdies in his last seven holes Aaron Cockerill moved off the projected cut area, into contention at this version of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

T22 after -3 69, it's his best start on this swing through South Africa especially after a front nine at E 35 on this spectacular Leopard Creek GC. 

The leader from South Africa, is Robin Williams -7 65 and there are 20 players within 3 shots of him 

Williams a 22 year old rookie playing on the Sunshine Tour after growing up in Peterborough, England and playing his junior golf there has returned to South Africa and is playing under their flag. He played the Junior Ryder Cup for Europe in Paris in 2018 where he met Tiger. That is his middle name !

Aaron is out early on Friday in the same pairing and of interest begins on the 10th tee, so today's success will be fresh in his mind. Tee Times
