Cockerill will play the weekend Alfred Dunhill Championship.. Friday results.. final edit

DP World Tour : Alfred Dunhill Championship Leaderboard

With 13 pars, 3 bogey's offset by a birdie and an eagle 3 Aaron Cockerill T29 69 72 -3 will play at this version of the Alfred Dunhill Championship this weekend, not the same nail biting that came down to a much needed birdie the 36th hole last week.

Aaron Cockerill

He began early this morning (730am local) on the same back nine he used -3 34 strokes on Thursday, however after back to back bogey's at 11 and 12 he settled in with straight pars for +2 39.

I think he saved his day after the turn with a birdie at #1 then the eagle 3 at the par 5 2nd got him back under par, with another run of pars with just a bogey 4 at the par 3 7th. -2 33 and the final E 72.

As I post this the late wave sees Springboks Charl Schwartzel and Casey Jarvis sharing the lead at -9 with a tightly bunched pack in close pursuit..

final edit : Casey Jarvis birdied the last in a second consecutive 67 to take a one-shot lead into the weekend at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

The home favourite started the day two shots off the lead but carded six birdies and a single bogey to be the only player at -10 after 36 holes at Leopard Creek Country Club.

England's Marco Penge was then at -9 after matching the lowest round of the day with a 66, one clear of countryman Paul Waring 68 and South Africans Christo Lamprecht 69, Charl Schwartzel 68 and Robin Williams 71

Jarvis only turned professional in August 2022 but quickly impressed, securing a top ten finish in the 2023 edition of the Joburg Open. A win at the Euram Bank Open and three runner-up finishes helped him finish second on last season's Road to Mallorca

"I keep learning out here as the weekends go by," he said. "I'm just trying to stay patient at the moment and learn as much as I can.

Home favourite Kyle Barker 67, English pair Sam Bairstow 66, and Andy Sullivan 69 and Spaniard Manuel Elvira 71 completed the top ten at-7

Former champion Christiaan Bezuidenhout 70, made the fifth hole-in-one of the season with a 151-yard wedge at the fifth to sit in the group four shots off the lead.
