South Africans lead their Open Championship....Cockerill surges T18.. Saturday results

South Africans fill the frame atop the leaderboard after 54 holes of their Investec South African Open at Blair Atholl Golf and Equestrian Estate in blistering hot Joburg weather.

Ryan Van Velzyn 72 65 70 -9, Jayden Schaper 70 70 67 -9 are tied for the lead, with Louis De Jager 67 71 70 -8 in 3rd.

Schaper made six birdies in a round of 67 to get to -9  and was joined by countryman Van Velzen, who birdied three of his first five in a 70.

Another South African in Louis de Jager was then a shot off the lead at -8 after a 70 of his own, one ahead of overnight leader Jesper Svensson 74 -7, Italian pair Francesco Laporta 69 -7 and Matteo Manassero 73 -7, Frenchman David Ravetto 72 -7, German Matti Schmid 71 -7 and South Africa's Dean Burmester 65 -7

Canadian Aaron Cockerill made one the the biggest jumps on moving day, from making the cut on the number, 41 places to T18 72 72 69 -3.
