Brooke Henderson and the rest of the LPGA Tour will all be working on their tans for the next two weeks in the sun baked desert around Carlsbad, California. This week it's the Kia Classic, next week it's the first major of the season ANA Inspiration in Rancho Mirage (the Dinah Shore)
Brooke is T56 after her opening round +1 73. Maude-Aimee Leblanc +3 75 and Alena Sharp +5 77.
The leader is a familiar name, Inbee Park who shot a -5 67 for a share of the lead with Brittany Lang, Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Ai Miyazato with Lydia Ko another stroke back at -4 68.
The sexy commercial face of Kia, Michelle Wie shot -2 70 while little Ha Na Jang opened with a 71 following her wins already this year in Florida and Singapore.
They weather as usual in this ridiculously wealthy part of southern California was perfect, not a cloud in the sky, with little wind, ideal for scoring.
