While it's my favourite event in golf every 2 years, it must just be a blast for these 24 pampered pros who for once are not playing for themselves, but their country / continent for the ultimate in bragging rights.
These guys never need another dime, they drive the best in cars, they live in mansions that we can only dream about, their families and their family's families are all secure, rich and safe. They are feted every week with the best every tournament organizer can offer and that ranges from behind the scenes tickets to the latest Broadway smash hit, to snorkeling in Maui with giant sting rays and everything, including the Alps in between.
But put a little history and some team play and some bragging rights on the line, all for no financial gain, and we have the best 3 days in golf.... Except it's really 6 days for these guys and here is some idea of the comradeship they enjoy before Friday's Foursomes are even played from my pals at the EuropeanTour,Roddy Williams and Gordon Simpson
