Golf this week, Deutsche Bank preview...

This week the playoffs continue on the PGA Tour with the Deutsche Bank in Boston and of course all eyes will be on you know who.  Monty has picked his team and Pavin will name his next Tuesday after this one is over ( Deutsche Bank goes Friday to Monday)

Here's where they are playing this week  ( thanks to AP, pgatour.com,europeantour.com for research material)

Now there are 100 players left from last week and the field will be cut to 70 for the BMW Championship next week then to 30 for the Tour Championship 2 weeks after that. Following his win last week, the always smiling Matt Kuchar leads the FedEx Cup standings with 3,937 points nearly 1400 more than Stricker (2,572) and the man he beat in the playoff, Scotland's Martin Laird (1,977)

Past winners here include Tiger in 2006, he's also been 2nd twice and is currently 65th in the Fed Ex points. Then Mickelson won in 2007,remember he missed the cut last week, Vijay set the scoring record at -22 in 2008, he also won in 2004, then Stricker won it last year

These guys have such a great history. Mark O'Meara took over from Arnie as the King of pro-ams winning the Pebble Beach pro am 5 times ( Arnie owned the Bob Hope Classic winning it 5 times between '60 and '73) O'Meara also won here as an amateur.

Tom Watson of course won the '82 US Open when he chipped in at 17, remember ? He also won the Bing Crosby twice.

Tom Kite of course made great use of his wedge winning the '92 US Open in gale force winds and he won the Bing as well.
