The wind was whipping (30mph) for most of the day at the venerable Waialae CC on Oahu, in the shadow of famous Diamond Head volcano, which made Aussie Cam Davis's opening -8 62 even more impressive. He leads the Taylor Montgomery -6 64 then the rest of the pack.
By the way if you heard a lot of loud cheering in his highlight package, apparently all his in laws from Seattle made the flight over for 2 weeks in the sun to root him on.
The wind and later clouds and rain suspended play due to darkness with 18 players back early to finish this morning.
Note **** I mentioned yesterday there will be many new names this year, if you don't follow golf outside the PGA Tour.
One of the most noble has to be 23 year old Belgian Adrien Dumont de Chassart owgr #209 playing his 1st PGA Tour event after winning the Korn Ferry Tour rookie of the year award, previously attending the University of IIlinois.. His family must live in a Belgian castle !!
