DP World Tour: Genesis Scottish Open Leaderboard
This is the 4th year for the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club, which adjoins Muirfield on Scotland's 'Golf coast".
In the previous 12 rounds the weather with one exception has been benign and like all links courses without wind, it has been vulnerable.
Veteran American, Cameron Tringale was out early in relatively calm weather, and he just about made every putt, including 6 birdies in a row on his way to a course record -9 61 for a 3 shot clubhouse lead.
Spanish star Jon Rahm had lots of crooked numbers, 6 birdies, 2 bogey's and a double for an opening -2 68
However as the tide comes in, and it's 5pm in Scotland the wind has picked up to the point the course is playing 3/4 shots harder for the late wave, so I expect his score to stand up.
The wind is projected to hang around all day on Friday, the windiest day of the weekend, blowing up too 40kph, so the scores will soar.
Corey Connors got in before the wind really picked up this morning. 14 pars, 2 birdies, 2 bogey's for E 70 Mac Hughes and Nick Taylor are on the course as I post this.. Check out the scoring Leaderboard
