PGA Tour: Barbasol Championship Thursday TEE TIMES here
With the world's elite in Scotland for the next 2 weeks, the rank and file who haven't qualified for the trip are playing in a PGA/DP World Tour sanctioned event, the Barbasol Championship in Nicholasville Kentucky.
The field is stronger than the norm with the new sanctions, and it carries a full package of perks including a 2 year exemption, 300 Fed Ex points and the winner gets the last available spot at the Open Championship.
Aaron Cockerill who missed the cut at last week's Irish Open, had pleasant Canada Day weekend news when he was added the the field, joining Taylor Pendrith (if he clears COVID protocol), Roger Sloan, Adam Svensson, David Hearn and last week's T10 finisher Michael Gligic.
The top 50 players on the DP World Tour have been invited this year under the new PGA/DP World Tour sanctions, which is how Cockerill qualified.
Seamus Power returns to defend his title
Seamus Power won his first PGA Tour title here last year on the Keene Trace Golf Club south of Lexington. It has hosted for the last 4 years. He beat red hot JT Poston who has been 1st and 2nd in his last 2 events in a 6 hole playoff.
