Coaching changes pay off for Koepka and Fowler, Hughes leads Canadians WCG Fed Ex St Jude Invitational

Caddies come and go in pro golf, especially when the player is struggling, the same can be said of coaches.

This week Jason Day will be without Colin Swatton who has been like a father to him since Day's father died when he was 12. Day who rose to #1 in the world with that incredible 2015-16 season had dropped outside the top 50 and has decided he wants to work on his swing by himself.

Brooks Koepka  has been indifferent at best since the COVID return with just one top 10, and after missing the cut at last week's 3M Open he spent time with England's no nonsense Pete Cowen and after putting poorly he has enlisted guru Phil Kenyon, and the results were immediate with his -8 62 to take a 2 shot lead at this WGC Fd Ex St Jude Invitational.

Rickie Fowler hasn't been himself at all recently, 89th in Fed Ex standings, with 5 missed cuts, so after a stint with Butch Harmon, he has been working with swing coach John Tillery, who has freed him up to start playing again instead of analyzing everything he's been doing. Result -6 64, T2 with  Brendon Todd.

Canadians : Meanwhile Mac Hughes shot an opening -2 68 at TPC Southwind T15 and Nick Taylor is a shot behind -1 69 T27. Corey Connors +2 72 and Adam Hadwin +3 73 are well down this 78 man field.

It's hot and muggy again with a SW breeze and T'Storms threatening so the field is out early off split tees, still paired in three's.
