You may remember last year I talked about a young Canadian lad Aaron Cockerill from Manitoba who qualified through Q school for the European Tour. He played for 3 weeks in a heatwave gripping Australia before returning home to Winnipeg which was in the midst of a deep freeze..
With the European Tour starting up again with a COVID restricted, no spectator 6 week run of re scheduled events in the UK, Aaron has posted a -5 66 to grab the early clubhouse lead at the Betfred British Masters sponsored by Lee Westwood at Close House GC up in Newcastle.
Next week is the WGC St Jude Classic followed by the PGA Championship both in America so any top European Tour players like Tommy Fleetwood are now over in the States to self isolate, so this is not this British Masters is not a full field.
