Brooke Henderson was +2 after her first 3 holes this morning at this edition of the Ricoh Women's British Open, at breezy Royal Lytham and St Annes on England's NE coast in Lancashire.
She got one back with a birdie on the 7th to go out in +1 36, however she really got in gear with 3 birdies in a row at 11, 12 and 13, adding two more at 15 and 17 to come storming home in 33 for her -3 69, which was right amongst the leaders in the morning wave. She hit 11/14 fairways, but used only 27 putts which is always the key to Brooke's scoring
Aussie Minjee Lee had the score of the day -7 65 to take the first round lead. She has had 2 wins and 2 runner ups this year including last week at Gullane in the Scottish Open.
The other Canadian Brittany Marchand shot a +2 74.
The weather provided the story of 2 different days with Brooke and the early wave in the rain and wind but the late wave benefiting from benign weather as the tide went out..
