Dustin Johnson seems to have life all figured out and as a result he is playing the best golf of his career.
Unconcerned about stats, spin rates, launch angles, happy to stay out of the limelight, secure at home, a doting father and about to be again, and blessed like his father-in-law with obscene skills, he makes the game seem ridiculously easy.
Only a couple of years ago he took time away from the game to get a grip on himself. A combination of falling for a certain Ms. Gretzky and coming under the influence of her famous Dad, becoming a father and re-dedicating himself to the game, led to his big breakthrough winning the US Open last summer when he'd been the bridesmaid at majors so often. He doesn't need money, and is only interested in winning...
He took all the drama out of Sunday's 36 hole finale of the Genesis Open at Riviera, shooting a 64 in his third round, winning by 5 shots, going to #1 in the world, and announcing that his fiancé is pregnant with their second child. It was his 4th win in 8 months.
Graham DeLaet (68) finished in 17th at -7, Adam Hadwin (69) was 34th at -4 and Nick Taylor (73) was 55th at -1.
