LPGA/LET ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open http://www.lpga.com/tournaments/isps-handa-womens-australian-open/leaderboard
After a week in the Bahamas, the women of the LPGA have flown down to Adelaide in south Australia for their women's national championship, meanwhile the men of the European Tour are in Perth playing the ISPS Handa Super6.
Veteran Aussie Katherine Kirk who won the CN Women's Canadian Open in 2008 leads the field after a sparkling -8 65 opening round. She missed the cut last week.
In a very strong field there are 4 Canadians.
Brooke Henderson is in a pack T9 at -4 69. Bogey free she was out in 36 but roared back in 33. Maude Aimee LeBlanc and Alena Sharp both shot -2 71 T25 while Jennifer Na slipped to a +2 75.
I was asked what ISPS Handa is. Well, it's a Japanese non-profit organization known for sponsorship of the PGA Seniors Championship and LPGA Women's Australian Open tournaments and is dedicated to promoting the involvement of the visually disabled in golf. ISPS Handa supports blind golf worldwide. ISPS Handa is a member of Tokyo Sports Association, a public interest incorporated foundation.
