South Korean Mirim Lee became the fifth golfer to shoot a round of -8 at the U.S. Women’s Open, taking advantage of good scoring conditions to make 10 birdies for her 64 and the first round lead on this CordeValle GC.
With holding but fast greens and little wind for the early wave there was low scoring and Lee was the best of the bunch. She has a three-shot lead over fellow South Korean Minjee Lee and Christie Kerr, both in with 67's
Kelly Tan, Brittany Lang and Anna Nordqvist all shot 68 while six other golfers finished the morning round at -2 70 including Alena Sharp who was the best of the Canadians, She is T11.
Maude-Aimée Leblanc shot E 72, National Team member, amateur Naomi Ko who is from Victoria shot 74 and another youngster, Taylor Kim had a 75.
Brooke started on the back nine and her driver let her down with 4 bogey's and 2 birdies before the turn, but she'll be disappointed to bogey her last two holes to fall 12 shots off the lead.
