The 22 year old, who has not won on the European Tour, remarkably fired nine birdies, including five consecutively from the eighth, in an outstanding -8 62,two clear on -11 at Pretoria Country Club.
His last birdie came at the 16th, two holes, both par 4's, to pick up two shots to make history. He came close to a birdie at the 17th, chipping just to the right of the hole from the edge of the green, made par then needed eagle at the 514 yard last, but made bogey to end up with the 62.
