1958 Australian master Peter Thompson won his 4th of 5 in a playoff with Dave Thomas (Wales)
1963 Lefty Bob Charles beat Phil Rogers in a playoff becoming the first lefty and Kiwi
1969 Tony Jacklin was in his prime when he beat Bob Charles by 2 shots at 280.
1974 Gary Player all in black was the only player under par, his 3rd Open, one in each decade
1979 Seve began his run as the world's most eciting player, slashing his way to his 1st of 3
1988 Seve continued his reign, beating Nick Price by 2 shots
1996 Tom Lehman has his day in the sun beating Ernie and McCumber by 2.
2001 David Duval and Tiger were in a struggle for world #1. It was Duval's week here.
