Lot's of rain, little wind will leave Lytham and St Annes at their mercy..Round 1 tee times

So the dust has settled, the weekend scores are all in, Jeev Milkha Singh, Troy Matteson, Zach Johnson all winging their way to Blackpool as I write here on Sunday evening..

The all important weather forecast has rain in it for everyday but Friday, tomorrow is 100%, so the course will be soft, and the wind from the W is not scheduled to be a factor. You know that means Lytham and St Annes will be left very vulnerable this week to the world's best, most of whom are already abed in the holiday capital of northwest England..

Lytham memories, with that old tudor style clubhouse include Tony Jaclin in his heyday in 1969, Seve of course in 1979 and 1988, Gary Player with his caddie the Rabbit in 1974, Tom Lehman in 1996 and David Duval in 2001 when Ian Woosnam took a 2 shot penalty for 15 clubs in his bag and lost by 3 shots.

It has 3 par 3's on the front 9 and has been lengthened to cope with modern technology, but without the wind and all the rain I expect a week of low scores which let's everyone in.
