Rory takes charge at Hero Dubai Desert Classic.. full scoreboard

DP World Tour: Hero Dubai Desert Classic...Leaderboard

No its not over,, this is Sunday, but it's a just finished round 3 at the weather delayed Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

Rory is the top story as he has been so often on this Emirates course with 2 previous wins and a hatful of top 10's.

Four straight birdies, and you knew today would be special. Out in 31. Four more on the back looking at a -9 63 with a birdie at the par 5 18th to go.

The 279 yd second shot as regulars know, one of the most famous risk/reward shots in golf, and one that cost him the tournament last year was at hand. This time his only blemish of the day found it's "watery grave" as the late great Ben Wright would say, resulting in a bogey 6.

His brilliant -7 65, -15 is the lead by 3 shots over Callum Shinkwin 67 and rookie sensation Dan Bradbury who won for the first time, earlier in South Africa and has been on the leaderboards ever since, 68, both Englishmen at -12

Next come 7 players at -11, and 7 more at -10 including names like last week's winner Victor Perez, Ian Poulter, Ryan Fox, Patrick Reed, and veteran Richard Bland who lost in a playoff here to Victor Hovland a few years ago.

So before Rory "'takes care of unfinished business" here as he declared in his pre tournament presser, we are reminded what happened late yesterday at Torrey Pines where leaders Jon Rahm 74, Sam Ryder 75 and Tony Finau 73 all faltered on their final 18's opening the door to the chasing pack and Max Homa who was 6 back, with some brilliant shot making was the lucky recipient.
