Hughes, Svensson Conners out of the race, Morikawa way ahead at Sentry TOC.. full leaderboard

PGA Tour: Sentry Tournament of Champions... full leaderboard here.

Collin Morikawa didn't win last year but got into this Sentry Tournament of Champions under the new expanded qualifications.

After working with new short game coach Parker McLachlan he has gone 54 holes without a bogey and with scores of 64 66 65 -24 he goes into today's final round a touchdown ahead of the field. Fitzpatrick, Spaun and Scheffler are all at -18.

Corey Conners

The race is over for the Canadians. Corey Connors is T27 -11 following his -1 72 which included a double at the 13th and 3 birdies. I watched all his highlights, and he did miss at least 4 putts from within 10 feet.

Mac Hughes opened brightly with that -7 66, but 74 71 has him T32 8 while Adam Svensson is in last place 71 70 78 E.

This is a great week for Morikawa to re-enter the winners circle. The new designated event status at Kapalua brings in a $15,000,000 purse with $2,700,000 going to the winner, and oh by the way $201,000 to last place.

Not a bad way to begin your 2023 at "work", two weeks in paradise all expenses paid for the guys and their families, with a short hop over to Oahu next week for the first full field event, the Sony Open.

Say what we want about the LIV series, even by not playing it, life on the PGA Tour has gotten a lot sweeter than ever.
