Mac Hughes putts his way to victory at Sanderson Farms: final results.

PGA Tour: Sanderson Farms Championship final results here.

Although he finished the end of 2221 39th in the world, he was ranked 82nd going into this weeks play at the Sanderson Farms, and hadn't played well enough in 2022 for Trevor Immelman to select him for the Presidents Cup International squad.

After a so so opening 71, Mac Hughes found his game, in particular his short game which has been his staple since his junior days with Team Canada.  63, 68 ,69 T9 -17. T9 in putts per GIR, 1st in scrambling, 4th is SG around the green, 1st in SG Total, 1st in tee to green all got him into a playoff with Austrian Sepp Straka which he won on the second hole with a birdie for his 1st win in 6 years and 157 starts, his 2nd overall.

"The win is a very freeing feeling. It's a weight off your shoulders, its validation, its confidence, self belief and everything that goes with it and I'm looking forward now to the rest of the year. I really feel my best golf is ahead of me, I'm only 31 years old."

This confidence boost bodes well for the rest of this 2023 season, moves him up to #51 in the world, over a million in the bank before the tax man gets him and most important right into the mix for Royal Montreal in 2 years time.

Nick Taylor who won this in 2015 T19 -10, Michael Gligic and Adam Hadwin T45 -6 and Adam Svensson T54 -5.
