Cockerill makes the cut in Mallorca...full scoreboard

DP World Tour: Mallorca Golf Open

After an opening -3 68 Aaron Cockerill was out in the early wave this morning at the Mallorca Golf Open with a main goal of making the cut to ensure he could improve his DPWTR of 110 to wrap up his card for 2023 after beginning this season on the Challenge Tour.

110 is right on the bubble, although Aaron advises us that they keep up to 117 on the 2023 list.

Beginning on the 10th tee he had a topsy turvy 1st nine with 3 birdies and 3 bogey's for E 36. It was a good start with a 16 footer for birdie on the 10th but as would be the case he gave that back with a 3 putt bogey 6 on the par 5 11th. He went bogey, birdie at 14,15 then birdie, bogey at 17,18.

However he settled in completely with 8 pars and a birdie playing the front nine for a -1 70 -4 total in the clubhouse T26 with the leader Dale Whitnell (63) -8.

The cut is projected at -1 so Aaron is in comfortably, currently projected at 107.

Unless he wins this week he isn't eligible for the regular season finale in Portugal next week, so making this cut leaves his future on tour next season in his own hands this weekend.

A 64 man field will gather at the Nedbank Challenge in Sun City, the 40th edition November 10-13 followed by the season finale DP World Tour Championship in Dubai where Rory McIlroy is bidding to add the Race To Dubai title to his win at the PGA Tour Fed Ex Cup.
