Canadians under par, Day leads Wells Fargo Championship... live scoreboard

PGA Tour : Wells Fargo Championship, Friday scoreboard here

Here's something I haven't said much since he won the PGA Championship and 4 others in 2015, Jason Day is atop the leaderboard after round 1 at this week's Wells Fargo Championship after an opening -7 63.

Six of the seven Canadians are under par with Adam Svensson who birdied 4 of his last 6 holes -4 66 and nice to see Mac Hughes showing some good form, bogey free -4 66 both T8th.

Nick Taylor is right behind them T17,  -3 67, 3 birdies on his back nine 32.

Drew Nesbitt the lefty from Shanty Bay played very well except for a 4 putt triple bogey at the par 3 3rd. He was in the green side bunker, splashed out nicely to 8 feet then just couldn't make the putt. Despite that, -2 68 T38.

Corey Connors was all about pars, 15 of them with 2 birdies and just 1 bogey T60 -1 69 as was Roger Sloan,

Michael Gligic the only Canadian to make the cut last week in Mexico, +1 71 with a very steady 17 pars, just the 1 bogey.

Pre tournament fan favourites Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia both -3 67's. Rory made 7 birdies but a double and 2 bogey's made the difference. Sergio with a spectacular eagle 2 at the par4 15th when his approach from 160yds landed right beside the flag, paused and spun back in was steady all day, adding 2 birdies and just the 1 bogey.

WEATHER: With the temperatures in the mid 80's strong storms with rain by mid afternoon is in the forecast for Friday, so the early wave gets the best of the deal.
