Here we go again as golf resumes for 2016..

Hi everybody, welcome back after the holiday break, how the heck are you !!

Today Monday January 4, 2016 is kind  of a good news, bad news day.

The bad news for many is that the holiday break is over, many of you took nearly 3 weeks away from the grind so when the big back to work/school switch was flipped at around 530am this morning it was very annoying especially when it's -20*c outside for the first time here in the GTA. Soon the roads will be at their aggravating worst, the whole kids getting up and out routine returns with organized chaos, the subway, buses are jammed with new higher rates...and Canada is out of the world junior semi's today !!

The good news for this space is that golf returns and resumes the 2016 season that started back in the fall. For the first time in as long as I can remember I worked right through the holidays, with only Christmas Day and New Years Day off. With my seniority at the Fan590, I always took the two weeks to get off the merry go round, rest, recharge, so a tip of my cap to everyone out there who like me has been hard at it.

In my last post I had a look ahead at what is sure to be an enthralling year and here is where the action is this week.

PGA Tour Hyundai Tournament of Champions field http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/hyundai-tournament-of-champions/field.html

All the guys who won last year are invited and 32 of the best accompanied by friends and family ease their way into this calendar year at the beautiful Plantation course at Kapalua on Maui. Spieth, Day. Bubba, Rickie, DJ, will be headliners all year, and they are accompanied by young guns, many making their first trip here like Smylie Kaufman, Emiliano Grillo, Brooks Koepka, Danny Lee, and Justin Thomas.

European Tour BMW SA Open field http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2016/tournamentid=2016000/teetimes/index.html#O8hhl1CUMXc9mDSr.97

The link I have attached is for all the players who are eligible, some will not attend at the Glen Dower GC in Johannesburg. It is the second oldest national Open in world golf and the defending champion coming off a break through year is England’s Andy Sullivan, this time with a new title sponsor in BMW, and making the trip for the umpteenth time is South African legend and tournament host Ernie Els who has two charities that will benefit,  Els for Autism and the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation.

The LPGA Tour, Champions Tour and Web.com tour are off this week.
