Hearn shoots 65 to contend at the sunny Sony Open

PGA Tour Sony Open leaderboard http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/sony-open-in-hawaii/leaderboard.html

David Hearn has shot a very good -5 65 at Waialae GC in the beautiful Hawaiian sunshine at the Sony Open to trail the leaders, 53 year old Vijay Singh, Ricky Barnes and Morgan Hoffman, Kevin Kisner and Brandt Snedeker all with 63, by two shots.

Singh who you may remember had nine victories in 2004 and won this event in 2005 when he was the #1 player in the world won the Fed Ex Cup in 2008 but hasn't won since. Barnes seemed to get lost in the shuffle having gone over 200 starts without a win, but after going back to the Web.com tour to regain his card he is showing a return to form.

South Korean Si Woo Kim, Zach Johnson and Charles Howell III (from Gilligans Island ?) shot 64's and former #1 Luke Donald, Sean O’Hair, Fred Funk, Jerry Kelly are in the group that joined Hearn with 65's.

Other Canadian scores Nick Taylor -1 69, Adam Hadwin +1 71, Graham DeLaet +3 73
