Sean Foley, Tiger and Fairways

On Sunday evening around the 13th hole I texted Sean and said " Unless Sean can catch him, Hunter will win this "  and then 'the Tiger talk with you is bound to pick up this week "

Well we know the rest, Hunter Mahan wins and Tiger talks to Sean on Tuesday at the PGA, however innocently..

I have a special relationship with Sean Foley, so does Bob Weeks and  Scott Metcalfe. Sean is our golf guru on our Fairways golf show every Saturday from 7-8am

Here's why. 15 years ago I used to get a different pro for our Fairways Golf Tip every Saturday morning. I would give them the topic and they would give the tip.

Then I called the late, great Ben Kern at the National one week and he became for a few years our regular golf pro... He brought you such great insight and his pals, Lee Trevino, Hank Haney, Tiger Woods etal and sadly we lost him far too soon to cancer.

As I planned out our next year we had a huge hole to fill and Weeksy, plugged in as ever said why not call Sean Foley, he is Canadian teacher and on the rise..

I called Sean, and asked him to replace Ben ....

He agreed immediately. Ben was one of his guiding lights as a young golf pro. He was coaching Ames at the time and became a must listen as part of our Saturday morning show... Folks he is reknown for knowing more about the golf swing and how to impart that info to his guys than any golf coach in the world and he was on Fairways every Saturday at 7.25am, for free I might add.

Sean told those of you who were listening on Fairways last year, the only show he appeared on ,that he would be thrilled to help Tiger, but is reluctant to become his full time coach because he is newly married to Kate and has the mighty Quinn as their first son. He has a good balance in life between them, his duties at Core Golf Academy and his pros.

He has Ames, Mahan , O'Hair amongst others to coach and when you sign on with Tiger, your personal life disappears.

Foley will enjoy advising Tiger,  but coaching him full time would need Kate and Quinn's approval !!
