Well my plan to get Bernhard 3 majors in a row and into the Ryder Cup team was dealt a little set back yesterday as straight shooting Freddie Funk shot a -3, 69 -12, 276 to edge out hard charging Micheal Allen -5, 67 and Chen Soon Lu -3,69 by a shot.
Bernhard slumped to a +1, 73, -8, 280 total .Tom Lehman who was in contention all week also shot 73 to finish at 278 along with Mark Calcavecchia who had the low round (66) of the day.
It's the 2nd time Freddie has won the Jeld-Wen,and he also won the 2009 Senior US Open
So here are the teams as they stand today for the Ryder Cup.
USA : Mickelson, Mahan, Watson, Furyk, Stricker, Johnson,Overton and Kuchar
Pavin has 4 captains picks and he is going to wait until the week of the BMW Championship to announce them, but you can bet one will be Tiger..
EUROPE : Westwood, McIlroy, Kaymer, McDowell, Donald then Fisher / E Molinari, Poulter / FMolinari, Hanson / Harrington, Rose / Jimenez, Casey
Monty will have 3 captains picks and will announce them after play at the Johnnie Walker this Sunday evening. The top 5 are certain then I have paired the rest as Monty picks off 2 lists, the World Ryder Cup Points and the European Tour Ryder Cup Points and the guys I have paired are all in the mix.
