Akshay Bhatia leads by 2 shots at -19, his -4 68 fuelled by 6 birdies on the first 7 holes when it was calmer in 30, then held on to his hat in the wind the rest of the way with 2 bogey's 38.
Colin Morikawa T2, has struggled for two years, like all these guys has battled away with his swing and confidence, says he's finally getting comfortable and my was he ever with the round of the day -8 62 -17 total.
Also out in 30, he went on a streak of 5 birdies on his last 6 holes for 32 before the worst of the wind.

Canadians
Nick Taylor T22 65 69 71 -11
Mac Hughes T45 66 71 71 -8
Taylor Pendrith T47 71 69 69 -7
Corey Conners T75 70 75 74 +3
Summary
With the stage cleared of the big boys like Rory and Scheffler who don't need another penny, remember this week is a huge $20,000,000 pay day with near $4,000,000 to the winner
Akshay Bhatia was newly married recently, what a wedding present for his bride is 18 windy holes away.
I think any of the guys at -15 like Matsuyama could still win, all bets are off in this weather system, although it could have been worse as the real heavy rain for the next 3 days isn't forecast until 4pm today.
Next
After missing a year due the the fires in and around LA, they will play another $20,000,000 signature event, the Genesis at the Riviera CC where Swedish star Ludvig Aberg is the defending champion.
