The LPGA's top stars did not fare so well after the opening round of this year's US Open on a calm Thursday under a damp marine layer that kept the temperature in the low 50* f.

Canada's Brooke Henderson fared better with her -1 71 which sees her T13. Her story is one of 2 nines. Out with 3 bogey's and 2 birdies +1 37 she steadied in with a bogey free back nine with birdies at the par4 16th and the par5 18th, -2 34. As important she only used 25 putts.
