PGA Tour: Memorial leaderboard here.
The good news is he made 9 birdies, the bad 2 bogey's and a double for a -5 67 and a share of the lead at Jack's place for this week's Memorial Tournament sponsored by Workday.
Mac Hughes hasn't had a great year so far, but was in a buoyant state of mind after his opening round.
" It was a nice day, I mean hit a few loose ones I'd like to have back, but I did so much good it's easy to forget about them. When I made those mistakes I tried to tell myself I was swinging really well, there was no need to panic or worry, made a commitment to having a good attitude, and that with hitting the ball nice was a good combo"
Corey Connors got off to a flying start, 5 birdies in 6 holes, finishing at -3 69 T11 while Adam Svensson is in at E 72 T48th. Adam Hadwin +4 76 T97.
The cut is projected at +1.
Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth are in a large group all bunched at -2 70 and they amongst many others in this field will join all the Canadians at the RBC Canadian Open next week at St George's in Etobicoke.
