USA Ryder Cup favourites ?..just what the European squad wants to hear..

2016 Ryder Cup teams, schedule http://www.rydercup.com/

Once again, in particular when the Ryder Cup is on this side of the pond, all the pre event hype has the USA team led by Davis Love as the favourite to win.

Phil Mickelson is lavish in his praise of the new and improved preparations, poignant in his criticism of past efforts, Tiger is back as an assistant captain along with Bubba who joins Jim Furyk, Tom Lehman and Steve Stricker. They are better in this role than they were as players where Tiger and Furyk in particular had poor records.

The team is stacked with DJ, Jordan, Rickie and Phil backed up by sparkplug Patrick Reed and solid pros like JB Holmes, Zach Johnson, Jimmy Walker, Matt Kuchar, Ryan Moore and Brent Snedeker.

They are at home in front of the highly partisan fans in Chaska, Minnesota on a fabulous Hazeltine course, they have a seemingly perfect blend of bombers and technicians, short games and great putters. Heck, the USA junior Ryder Cup team even won their match this year.

The European have six rookies in their squad, most over here don't know any of them, lambs to the slaughter apparently.

Well my friends, if you know anything about the history of this event, all that is just what the European team has fed off of all these years..and what they want to hear...

David vs Goliath, the big rich Yanks, the beautiful weather, luxury beyond belief, big cars, spoiled kids, on and on it goes..

Of course much of that has changed, some of the European team like Rory and Henrik have homes in Florida, many of the young guns went to college in America, all have much more money than their peers in years gone by.... but the premise remains the same, and that's something the USA can't change.

It doesn't mean that Europe will win for the 9th time in the last 11 matches, but the underdog role suits them just fine.

Don't forget they have the Olympic gold medal winner (Justin Rose), the Open Champion (Henrik Stenson) the Masters champion (Danny Willett) and the Fed Ex Cup winner (Rory McIlroy)... and they are still the underdogs.... really ??

Watch here for the pairings as soon as they come out.. Today is a practice day.
