Record tying 61 on Renaissance course leads Genesis Scottish Open... live round 2 scoreboard

DP World/PGA Tour : Genesis Scottish Open Leaderboard

I'll have you know many of my media pals in the UK  would rather this national championship of Scotland were at the original North Berwick links rather than the new Tom Doak creation owned by the American Sarvadi brothers of Pinehurst NC on a 1000 acre parcel originally owned by the Duke of Hamilton with another spectacular 3 hole parcel of land obtained in a deal with the HCEG (Muirfield) .

It's limited international membership is for the ultra rich and their clients, friends, family, thus it lacks the soul and of course the history of all the 22 others so much a part of the folks who live up and down East Lothian on what is now dubbed Scotland's Golf Coast.

$125,000 membership, with annual dues $8000 - $10,000 are the current numbers for the spectacular course which first opened in 2011 and in a deal co sanctioned with the DP World Tour//PGA Tour first hosted the Scottish Open in 2019.

It is now the 3rd of the Rolex Series of DP World Tour events with a $9,000,000 purse.

Byeong Hun An went to the long putter four weeks ago

Korean (Ben))Byeong-hun An torched the track in round 1, tying the course record with a bogey free -9 61 on a relatively calm day, which is always the achilles heel of links golf.

An won the Sir Henry Cotton rookie of the year award in 2015 after winning the BMW PGA Championship and is an established star on the DP World Tour, having played in 8 Opens.

American Davis Riley was 2nd -7 63, just ahead of course specialist Belgian, Thomas Detry and Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy in at -6 64.

Round 2 is now well underway..

Canadians

Corey Conners T37 72 65 -5

Nick Taylor T52 68 -2

Mac Hughes T74 69 70 -1
