Westwood grabs 1st round lead at DP World Tour Championship

European Tour DP World Tour Championship leaderboard http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2016/tournamentid=2016090/leaderboard/index.html#/leaderboard

There are 4 players who with a win this week, win the whole kit and caboodle, that means this week's  $8m DP World Tour Championship, and the $10m Race to Dubai.

None of them opened particularly well. Danny Willett -1 71 along with Alex Noren, Henrik Stenson the front runner, shot E 72, while Rory McIlroy was fighting back after 5 bogey's through 10 holes, with 3 birdies late in his round, but a double bogey at the 16th, put the seal on +3 75.

The leader, playing one of his best rounds of the year is Lee Westwood with a sterling -6 66, a shot ahead of Belgian Nick Coltsaerts and France's Julian Quesne.

Westwood is 43 now, finally settled into divorced life, of course with a new beauty, was on top of the world when he won here in 2009, capping off his Order of Merit title, and remember he finished T2 at the Masters this year which gave him a mess of points in the rankings.

With the pins tucked, nearly half of the 60 man field could not break par, the worst score goes to Frenchman Romain Wattel, +10 82.
