MacKenzie Hughes survives triple bogey to maintain lead at Sea Island

PGA Tour RSM Classic leaderboard http://www.pgatour.com/competition/2017/the-rsm-classic/leaderboard.html

MacKenzie Hughes shot a 61 in his opening round of this RSM Classic at Sea Island in Georgia, and has held on to the lead ever since, despite a triple bogey from a fairway bunker today on the 11th hole where he left his first attempt in the sand, and eventually 3 putted for a seven to lose a three shot lead.

However he is right in control of his play from tee to green and has the commentators in awe of his pure putting stroke and he recovered to make 3 birdies in his last four holes. All that led to a -2 68 that gave him a one-shot lead at -16 over Billy Horschel (65), Camilo Villegas (64) and C.T. Pan (67) in windy conditions.

It will be a tough task for the recently married Canuck from Dundas, it is a jam packed leaderboard as usual in this wrap around PGA tour season with 10 guys within 4 shots of the lead.

Brad Fritsch and Nick Taylor both made the cut at -2 but did not finish due to the new rules restricting players making the cut to 70 and ties.
