Mike Weir is now down to 3 events to make around $230,000 to gain full privileges on tour this year and that's why, despite his poor play, I think this week's 3 courses including Pebble Beach at the AT &T are his best chance of winning and he starts on the easiest of the three, Spyglass.
He's not off to the greatest start -- missing the cut at the Hope and barely hanging around (T77) at Torrey Pines, has made $10788 and is 205th in the world. But Weir knows how to play at Pebble, where he's done everything except win. He was second in 2005 and 2009, third in 2006 and fourth in 2004.. 6 top 10's in 9 years
So I did some number crunching for you today...remarkable
Since 2000 Mike has won $ 2, 396,655 at this event or $ 217, 877.72 on average, more than enough to win back his card..
So in an event Dustin Johnson has dominated recently, Mike Weir, one of 5 Canucks in the field has a great chance this weekend and don't forget David Duval who was 2nd here last year as he tries to climb back up his # 1 mountain. His tie for second here last year was the building block for his return to competitiveness. Duval is showing signs that he's getting close ,again, with a pair of top 25s the last two weeks.
