A Spaniard and a Swede hold a slim lead, Genesis Championship...Saturday results, Sunday TEE TIMES

DP World Tour : Genesis Championship   Course Tee Times  Weather

Mikael Lindberg and Nacho Elvira jumped out of the chasing pack to earn a share of the third round lead at the Genesis Championship.

Mikael Lindberg-2243162744

Eight players were in a logjam at the top after Friday's play, but Lindberg recorded the joint lowest round of Moving Day with a -4 67 to surge ahead and set the clubhouse target of -8.

The Swede briefly led by two but Elvira carded three birdies in four holes on the back nine, 67 to join him on that mark at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.

They hold a two-shot advantage over English pair Andy Sullivan 70 and Alex Fitzpatrick 71 both at -6, China's Haotong Li 71, and Japan's Yuto Katsuragawa 70, with a further five players lying in wait at -5

"It was a good day, a good day for sure," Lindberg said. "The weather has been very nice since we got here and I like the course.

"I'm not going to try to think too much about it. I've been playing well lately and have been playing well this week, and hopefully I can continue to play good golf tomorrow and we will see."

Elvira said " I tried to stay patient because I know it's a tough course, the birdies are not guaranteed here so I think I did a good job with that."

Sullivan finished his round with four straight birdies to climb up to six under, while Katsuragawa carded four birdies and three bogeys in his 70.

Li mixed four birdies with four dropped shots in his 71 and Fitzpatrick offset two bogeys on the front nine with two gains on the back nine 71 to sit two behind the leaders.

Home hopefuls Seungbin Choi 69 and Garam Jeon 67 are among those at -5 alongside Aphibarnrat 71, Belgian Thomas Detry 69 and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama 67

Cockerill stays positive on the bubble at Genesis Championship in Korea..Full Saturday results..

DP World Tour : Genesis Championship   Course Tee Times  Weather

Aaron Cockerill hopes to seize the chance to keep his DP World Tour card as he remains on the bubble heading into the final round of the regular season.

Aaron Cockerill-2243144330

Cockerill needed to reach the weekend at the Genesis Championship to improve his chances of retaining his playing privileges for the 2026 campaign, and he held his nerve with three birdies in four holes on the back nine during his second round to sneak above the cut line.

The top 115 on the Race to Dubai rankings after the final event of the Back 9 at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club can schedule their plans for next year but following a one-over 72 on Moving Day to sit on level par, the 33-year-old is currently the first man out in the dreaded 116th position.

However, Cockerill remains positive despite his predicament and wants to have fun on Sunday.

"I played pretty good," the Canadian said. "I probably played better, the pin positions were difficult again and hard to get close to.

"I hit a lot of good shots to 25 feet but didn’t make much. I felt good, much better than yesterday, so we’re on the right track.

"I’ve tried not to change anything, trying to compete in this golf tournament, the scores are so bunched up. A good day tomorrow moves me up and that’s all I’m focusing on.

"It’ll be lovely (to keep my card). It’s right there for me, I need to seize it and have fun out there tomorrow."

Genesis Championship..Cockerill makes cut, 8 tied for lead..Friday results

DP World Tour : Genesis Championship   Course Tee Times  Weather

Sungjae ImHaotong LiAlex FitzpatrickDaniel HillierNacho ElviraTom VaillantMinhyuk Song and Junghwan Lee could not be separated at the top of a logjammed leaderboard at the Genesis Championship.

Sungjae Im-2242890960

Im leads the South Korean charge on home soil and he held the outright lead until a bogey at the ninth - his final hole - saw him slip back to -6 to join compatriot Song, Englishman Fitzpatrick and France's Vaillant in a four-way tie at the summit.

Spain's Elvira posted a second successive -3 68 to increase the leading group to five, New Zealand's Hillier joined soon after thanks to a birdie at the last and another home hopeful Lee produced the round of the day with a brilliant -6 65.

Li, who started in the afternoon, burst ahead of the pack with two birdies in his opening five holes, but he mixed a total of four gains with four bogeys -2 69 to become the eighth player in the clubhouse at -6.

Im, a two-time PGA TOUR winner and Presidents Cup star said "I think I was playing much better overall today. I feel that today I was very consistent," Im said. "Looking back at my game, I think I was aggressive when I needed to be and I played safe when I needed to.

"When we come to Korea we have all these fans who come out and cheer and support us. That really gives you the boost you need. When I come here, I really have a good time."

MK Kim 72, who shared the lead with Li after round one, is among six players at -5 alongside fellow South Korean Yongjun Bae 69, Englishman Andy Sullivan 69, Japan's Yuto Katsuragawa 66, Italian Andrea Pavan 68, and Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat 67.

Cockerill

edit >>> At the other end of the field, the cut fell at +1. Canada's Aaron Cockerill and his family will be relieved to make it with 69 72 -1 T44 which is step one with 36 to play, moving to a projected #113, dangerously close to the #115 cut off.

The news was not so good for Germany's Yannick Paul.

Paul could not hide his disappointment after missing the cut, which meant he will not keep his DP World Tour card for the 2026 season.

He began the week in the ominous position of 116th place, however, a +8 79 in his first round in Cheonan derailed any hope of a fifth straight year on the DP World Tour despite shooting level par on Friday, he will now head for Q-School next month in his bid to stay on tour.

"Yesterday wasn't the main issue. I mean, I had all season to you know, play good enough," Paul said. "I don't really know really what to say? It is what it is. Obviously disappointed because I knew like with... I obviously have Q-School coming up.

"So like as a Q-school category, you don't really get into many starts so I knew that there's a big difference if you finish inside the top 115 here. "I guess you know, the universe had a different plan. It's hard to understand or see that plan at the moment but yeah, it's been... I don't know. It's a weird feeling.

"At the moment obviously I’m quite disappointed. Really disappointed actually. "You know, for three and a half years I felt like I played pretty decent and then a couple of things happen and all of a sudden you don't really have a place to play next year.

Solid start for Cockerill, Genesis Championship.. Round 1 results, Friday TEE TIMES

DP World Tour : Genesis Championship   Course Tee Times  Weather

Haotong Li and MK Kim rose to the top to share the first-round lead after opening 65s at the Genesis Championship at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.

Li Haotong-2242700218

Chinese star Li has enjoyed a stunning 2025 campaign which saw him claim his fourth DP World Tour title at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in February alongside top-five finishes at the Volvo China Open, Turkish Airlines Open, Soudal Open and the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush.

He rolled in six birdies in a flawless 65 to set the benchmark in Cheonan, but the home crowd had something to cheer about as Kim birdied the last to become joint leader at -6 after eight gains and two dropped shots.

Spain's Alejandro Del Rey 66, is one shot behind after also birdieing the last to climb to -5  after six birdies and a bogey.

"Very pleased to finish like this, especially with a couple of up and downs on the last four holes," Li said. "Those were very important to keep momentum going.

"The greens are very tricky and fast. You have to put yourself in the right positions, also off the tee as well. Off the tee, I did well until the last couple of holes. That’s the key for the week.

"I definitely just need to focus on my game. I know the points list (for PGA TOUR cards) is getting tighter and tighter. I just need to play my game and hopefully there are some good results coming up.

Kim also made a fast start with an opening birdie from close range and doubled his score with a brilliant hole-out from the third bunker.

The South Korean picked up his third shot at the fifth from ten feet before adding another birdie at the eighth.

"I’m really happy with today," Kim said. "I putted really well. My shots weren’t great, but I saved a lot and made a good score.

"I holed a bunker shot and made a lot of putts, that’s what went well today.

"The course is great. I’ve played here a lot of times, so I’m used to it. The greens are in really good condition, so I can putt well on them.

"They (the fans) are supporting me a lot and it really cheers me up. Three days left. I’ll try my best on each of those days."

Antipodean trio Daniel Hillier 67, Elvis Smylie 67 and David Micheluzzi 67 are one shot further back alongside Frenchman Tom Vaillant 67, English pair Laurie Canter 67 and Joe Dean 67 and Scot Ewen Ferguson 67.

Defending champion Byeong Hun An carded an opening 76 after a triple bogey, four dropped shots and two birdies.

Aaron Cockerill

EDIT>>> Bubble boy Canadian Aaron Cockerill made a solid start with some excellent driving and iron play, playing a clean back nine first with 2 birdies, -2 33, then came in with 2 more birdies, 2 bogey's E 36  for T21 -2 69. His projected finish jumps from #117 to #109, every shot is vital this week, making the cut a first priority.

PGA Tour: Three Canadians in this weeks Bank of Utah Championship.

PGA Tour : Bank of Utah Championship Tee Times Leaderboard

The PGA Tour Fall Season continues this week at the Black Desert Resort in Utah, there are 3 Canadians looking for that big week to retain their cards for 2026 in the top 100.

A male golfer looks off into the distance while watching his shot as he holds his club up with both hands.

Adam Hadwin #143, Adam Svensson #164, Ben Silverman #165 chances are slim, however that's why they are in the field.

They are not alone, several players are all around the 100 mark, making it a tense week, while most of the top guys are already on holiday.

Ryder Cupper Sam Burns #106, Max McGreevy #104, Isaiah Salinda #101, Andrew Putnam #107, Victor Perez #105, are just some of the guys grinding out the 2025 season.

Adam Scott joins Aaron Cockerill with the "bubble boys" this week Genesis Championship

DP World Tour : Genesis Championship   Course Tee Times  Weather

I've been writing about "it" for a few weeks, this is the final week with it all on the line for DP World Tour players to retain their cards for 2026, and to make it into the top 70 for the Race to Dubai playoffs net week in Abu Dhabi.

The top 115 will secure or retain their category 10 playing privileges for almost every event on the 2026 calendar.

The options can be soul destroying for guys who have fought to maintain their status, their income,  their family security, their confidence, and now are starting all over at Q School, or a minor tour elsewhere.

Such is the case with one of the world's premier players, Masters champion Adam Scott, and he is not alone.

Here are their stories.

(note *The players ranked 119-126 are either otherwise exempt for 2026 or not in the field for the Genesis Championship.)

115 - Adam Scott

A name you may not have expected to see on this list but a man whose fate is entirely in his own hands, the Australian is the player they are all trying to catch.

Adam Scott

He needs little introduction as a Masters champion, former World Number One and 11-time DP World Tour winner but it is potentially being under-raced that has hindered his efforts this season.

He has missed just two cuts in his seven starts but they were at the Masters and Open where big points were on offer and a man who finished in the top ten on the Race to Dubai last season is now looking over his shoulder.

116 - Yannik Paul

A winner in his maiden DP World Tour season at the Mallorca Golf Open, Paul took to Tour life quickly and made it look easy, comfortably qualifying for the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in 2022, 23 and 24.

Yannik Paul

It is against that backdrop that 2025 appears so stark, with the German missing six of his first seven cuts before a third-place finish at the Volvo China Open catapulted him up the Rankings.

He enjoyed a reasonably consistent summer but another run of six missed cuts in seven halted his progress, although he arrives in Cheonan having made back-to-back weekends for the first time since July.

117 - Aaron Cockerill

A 2019 Qualifying School graduate, the Canadian has had to work hard to truly establish himself on Tour and he will not want to give up his status without a fight.

Cockerill

After struggling in his Covid-affected maiden season and the following year, he has improved his finish on the Race to Dubai Rankings every season since, cracking the top 50 for a first DP World Tour Championship appearance in 2024.

This campaign has been a struggle, however, with Cockerill riding the bubble all year with a single top ten and he will need at least a made cut to have a chance of maintaining his status.

118 - Fabrizio Zanotti

Since graduating from the HotelPlanner Tour in 2007, the Paraguayan has lost his status on just two occasions, going on to regain it at the Qualifying School at the first time of asking both times.

Fabrizio Zanotti

With 18 consecutive seasons on Tour, 415 appearances and two wins under his belt, the 42-year-old will certainly not be overawed by the occasion and his performances so far this term suggest he can give himself a chance over the weekend.

He made his first 12 cuts of the season and has missed just five all in all but has failed to deliver that big performance - could it arrive just in time in Korea?

By coincidence he is paired with #117 Aaron Cockerill Thursday and Friday.

127 - Jordan Gumberg

If Gumberg fails in his quest to retain his card this season, it most certainly won't be for a lack of trying.

Jordan Gumberg

Since the season started in Australia back in November, the American has missed just one event where he could have played, teeing it up every week possible in the calendar year of 2025.

This year's DP World Tour iron man makes a 34th start of the season this week and while he made the cut in India, he had made just one other weekend in his previous 12 and will be looking for a big upturn in form.

Thursday TEE TIMES including Aaron Cockerill, Genesis Championship, South Korea.

DP World Tour : Genesis Championship   Course Tee Times  Weather

Please click on my links above for course information, tee times and the weather forecast in South Korea.

I count 36 home players in the 126 man field, a clear indication of the golf explosion in that country, their women have been dominating the LPGA Tour for 25 years now.

Hideki Matsuyama is the top ranked player, Adam Scott has also made the trip to the Far East as has Keita Nakajima last week's runner up to Tommy Fleetwood in India.

Byeong "Ben" An is the defending champion.

Cockerill

It's a big week for Canada's Aaron Cockerill ranked at #117 he needs to get to #110 to retain the card he has held for the last 4 seasons on the DP World Tour, or face Q School. There are also 5 players from other International Tours listed as "in addition" where that cut off is at #115 held by Adam Scott.

  • The Genesis Championship is the final counting event on the 2025 DP World Tour Global Schedule, with the top 110 players on the Race to Dubai Rankings after this event retaining their membership for the 2026 season. With five players currently counted as ‘in addition’ to the 110, the cut-off is currently 115th position - occupied by Adam Scott.

Group 30 12.35 1st  Aaron Cockerill, Fabrizio Zanotti, Jorge Campillo

Canadian Richard T.Lee lives in Asia and plays that tour, is in this field as well.

The weather for the week has no issues, much cooler at 18*c than last week in New Delhi, India where it reached 34*c.

This week marks the first time the DP World Tour has held an event at Woo Jeong Hills, with the venue having previously hosted 21 editions of the Kolon Korea Open on the Asian Tour from 2003 to 2024.

The course was designed by Perry O. Dye, son of renowned architect Pete Dye, and opened in 1993. It was renovated earlier this year with completely new greens by Pete Dye Designs and the signature holes is the 13th, a par-three with an island green.

This is the last regular season event of the 2025 season, all the big names will be in Abu Dhabi for the top 70 playoff Yas Links November 6-9 followed by the Tour Championship November 16-19 in Dubai.

Genesis Championship 2025, Cockerill's last event, Entry List, Course details,,,

DP World Tour : Genesis Championship Entry List  Course

I believe this is the DP World Tour's 42th event, in their 26th country, it is their last before the 2025 playoff, then the Tour Championship for the Race to Dubai where Rory McIlroy off his career defining season will vie to win his 7th Order of Merit title.

70 players will playoff in Abu Dhabi, then the top 50 make it to the Tour Championship.

Aaron Cockerill

Last year Canada's Aaron Cockerill qualified for both, ranked anywhere between 47 & 49.

This year hasn't been so good as he checks into the Woo Jeong Hill CC, in Cheonan, South Korea, 90k from Seoul on the Yellow Sea. Now that is about as far away from Teulon, Manitoba, 60k north of Winnipeg as he can get.

Yet in all that travel, some of it with wife Chelsea and daughter Addison, this is where he has ended up with his 2026 card on the line. The top 110 will get that card.

His rank in the Race to Dubai #117, his owgr #409 He is 33 years old, with 0 DP World Tour wins and two 2nd place finishes.  He has won a career $3,746,417.

Turned pro in 2015 and he played his first 3 DP World Tour events in 2019, 20 more in 2020, and his first full season in 2021 where he finished #152.

He has kept his card since 2022, #107, 2023 #76, 2024 #49 and has category 10 status.

First this week he will need to make the cut, then probably a top 25ish finish to move from 117 to #110.

I have described his options in prior missives, Q School likely top of list where top 20 and ties get their card.

Brilliant Tommy Fleetwood caps his best season with DP World India Championship..

DP World Tour : India Championship Tee Times Leaderboard Weather

Tommy Fleetwood added another chapter to his fairy-tale year as he fought off a world-class field to win the 2025 DP World India Championship by two shots and celebrate victory on the green with his son Frankie for the first time.

Tommy

Having ended his long wait for a his first PGA TOUR title at the Tour Championship to capture the FedExCup in August, the Englishman then played a key role in Europe's historic away Ryder Cup victory at Bethpage Black in September.

Fleetwood then moved into the top five on the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in his career and is now an eight-time DP World Tour winner after producing a brilliant burst of scoring around the turn at Delhi Golf Club on his way to a closing 65.

With third-round leader Keita Nakajima and a charging Daniel Hillier dominating the top of the leaderboard in the early stages, something special was required to catch them.

And Fleetwood was up to the task, reeling off four birdies in a row from the seventh to grab a share of the lead on -20.

After producing a strong par save to remain up at the top, Fleetwood made further birdies from long range on the 14th and 17th to press home his advantage before a closing par saw him enter the winner's circle again at -22.

Fleetwood's playing partner Nakajima was alone in second on -20 under following his closing 69, two ahead of Shane Lowry 69, Alex Fitzpatrick 69 and Thriston Lawrence 65 in T3 -18

India has been a happy hunting ground for Japanese star Nakajima, who now has a victory and two runner-up finishes to his name in the country on the DP World Tour since 2024.

Fleetwood was joined on the green for the celebrations by his son Frankie, which was a goal the pair had set last week.

He said: "We were at home last week and we were driving the buggy. I think we were playing golf together, and he just said randomly, 'Do you know what you've never done?'. He said 'You've never won a tournament and I've been able to run on to the 18th green'. I was like, 'I'm writing that down'.

"I had that written down all week. Like I say, it was just another opportunity really.

"There's going to be many more times where I hopefully get the chance to do that. But all day today, I had in my mind could I put myself in a position where I can actually make that moment happen?

"It's just one of those little things, it means a lot to me. It means so much to me. That was really cool. That's what I wanted to do all day."

Nakajima leads Fleetwood/Lowry into Sunday at Indian Open.. 54 hole results

DP World Tour : India Championship Tee Times Leaderboard Weather

Keita Nakajima continued his love affair with India as he opened up a two-shot lead ahead of the final round of the 2025 DP World India Championship.

Keita Nakajima takes two-shot lead into final round as love affair with India continues

India has been a happy hunting ground for the Japanese star, who won the 2024 Hero Indian Open at DLF Golf and Country Club before finishing second at the same event this year.

And he looked right at home once again at Delhi Golf Club on Saturday as he made seven birdies in a bogey-free 65 to reach -17  and rise to the top of the leaderboard.

But he has a world-class chasing pack just behind him, with reigning FedEx Cup Champion Tommy Fleetwood -15 69 his nearest challenger and Major Champion Shane Lowry 69, another shot further back -14.

Jens Dantorp 65, Alex Fitzpatrick 67, Daniel Hillier 67 and Brian Harman 70, share fourth place on -13.

Nakajima started the day two shots behind halfway leader Fleetwood but closed the gap with a ten-foot birdie at the first. The highlight of Nakajima's round came on the par-three 12th as he drained his 40-foot birdie effort to grab a share of the lead.

Another long-range birdie putt dropped on the 13th to hand Nakajima the solo lead, and he made it three in a row at the 14th from nearly 20 feet to move two shots in front.

He safely parred his way home to head into the final round with a two-shot cushion.

Nakajima said: "It was a great day.

"I played with Shane Lowry and I love his swing tempo and his golf style. So I learned from Shane a lot.

"I copied his swing tempo on every shot, that's why I did great.

"I had two good tournaments in India already so I had confidence playing here. One more day, just keep going."

Fleetwood struggled for momentum on the back nine as he parred the first seven holes before dropping his first shot of the day on the 17th.

He got the shot back on the 18th after a lucky bounce off a tree helped him get up and down for a closing birdie.

Fleetwood said: "Final group is always great. You've got to enjoy those moments. You don't know when they're going to come again. Looking forward to that.

"It's been a great tournament. Just hopefully go out and enjoy it and play well."

Fleetwood leads Indian Championship, Cockerill misses cut .. 36 hole results, Saturday TEE TIMES

DP World Tour : India Championship Tee Times Leaderboard Weather

Tommy Fleetwood will take a one-shot lead into the weekend at the 2025 DP World India Championship after making eight birdies and no bogeys in a stunning second-round 64.

Tommy Fleetwood the man to catch at midway point of DP World India Championship

The reigning FedEx Cup Champion started the day four shots behind first-round leader and playing partner Shane Lowry after kicking off his campaign with a 68 on Thursday.

But he soon closed the gap as the Englishman fired five birdies on his way to the turn on Friday morning before picking up three more shots coming home to set the clubhouse target at -12.

Although a charging Keita Nakajima got close to his score at one stage, no-one in the afternoon was able to catch Fleetwood, who holds a slender advantage at the halfway stage.

Fleetwood has Major Champions Lowry (69) and Brian Harman (65) breathing down his neck just one shot behind him on -11, while Nakajima (69) sits another shot further back at -10 in fourth place.

He said: "I played better than yesterday, I think. I wasn't happy with how I hit it towards the end yesterday. I hit some balls afterwards, and I felt like today the swing was in a better place.

"I hit it in the fairway a lot today and from there just gave myself the chance to hit some nice irons in and putted well as well for the second day in a row.

"It's easy to talk about how many things you did well when you shot eight under, but just a really good round of golf."

Speaking about the test Delhi Golf Club is providing so far this week, Fleetwood added: "It's just such a unique challenge for all of us.

"I haven't hit more than a five wood. The one hole where I'd hit more is 18, but you get to that and you're like, 'well, I haven't hit one, and I don't really feel that comfortable with it'.

"It's such a unique challenge, and the greens are firming out a little bit and the pins have been tricky.

"It's been very, very enjoyable. It's a test of patience when you're not quite on it because it's one of those courses, you get a few of them where you feel if you hit it good off the tee you're going to have some short irons and wedges and feel like you've always got a chance of going on a run.

"It's such a waiting game. You've got to be very patient. It's been a great test."

edit>>>> With the cut falling at -2, Canada's Aaron Cockerill 71,74 +1 will miss the weekend and is one of several players heading to the year's last regular event in Korea with his last chance to retain his Tour Card. He is at #118 with the top 110 keeping their cards.

Friday : Fleetwood/Lowry top billing India Championship, Cockerill M/C ..36 hole results

DP World Tour : India Championship Tee Times Leaderboard Weather

The brotherhood that is the European Ryder Cup team continues in New Delhi, as best mates Tommy Fleetwood 68 64 -12 and Shane Lowry 64 69 -11 looks likely take top billing into the weekend at this DP World India Championship, along with American lefty, Brian Harman 68 65 -11.

GettyImages-2237945262

The late wave still has a few holes to finish.

No surprises here. with Tommy, the best iron player on tour, Shane, who has been singing the praises of this little tree lined shot makers Delhi GC where drivers are not required, and Brian Harman, one of the tour's shortest hitters with a shot making, master class putting DNA.

The other Ryder Cuppers, Luke Donald T22 68 71 -5, Viktor Hovland -5 thru 15 and Rory McIlroy -4 thru 15, will all be around for the weekend.

As I post this at 6am edt, the cut is projected either -2 or -1, it is fluctuating as round 2 winds down.

Cockerill

That is bad news for Aaron Cockerill who posted on Instagram on Thursday, "with 2 regular season events left, eyeing a strong finish"

Thursday's 71 -1 saw him T44. Today his +2 74, T88 +1, a costly missed cut, he is now projected at #118 with just the Genesis next week in Korea to save his card at #110 or better for 2026.

He made 9 birdies, 8 bogey's 1 double bogey and 18 pars in 36 holes, 13 shots behind the leader.
