Threatening weather suspends play at Zurich Classic of New Orleans

PGA Tour Zurich Classic of New Orleans leaderboard http://www.pgatour.com/competition/2017/zurich-classic-of-new-orleans/leaderboard.html

With the American pairing of Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown combining for scores of 70 64 67 -21 for a 1 shot lead over Sweden's short  game wizard Jonas Blixt and rising young Aussie star Cameron Smith 67 62 68 -20, dangerous weather has blown into  New Orleans forcing tournament officials to evacuate the course with the threat of tornadoes in the area.

Tee times were moved up to 6.40am local time to try and beat the storm, but at 11am EST play was called and the forecast is bleak with whipping winds and rain falling.

Canadian scores: David Hearn and Graham DeLaet are at 71 66 72 -10. Mackenzie Hughes and Nick Taylor missed the cut.

There is a lot at stake and officials will wait as long as possible to finish play today. Each golfer takes home $1.02 million and 400 FedEXCup points.

23-year-old Smith has never won a PGA Tour event.
