I have often been asked what clubs the pros are playing with, not so much the make, but specifics about the model, the grips, most importantly the shafts.
My father Bill was an aeronautical engineer who became a club maker in his later years, as a result I still have way too many clubs lying about the house that we used to spend hours re gripping, adding lead tape weight, in general just tinkering...
Of the many things I learned from him was that of the entire golf club, the shaft is THE most important thing.
Without getting too technical, the pros pay with much stiffer shafts than we mortals, they swing much harder (faster) than we do. Rory's swing rate is 126, yours is 73.. Rory's shaft is wasted on you, you don't swing fast enough to create any torque. His shaft is like a bed post for you
Duffers need more forgiving shafts to accommodate our slower swings...
