Manassero, Idoki win PGA's, Weekley wins Colonial.....Live links to all tours..

PGA TOUR - CROWNE PLAZA INVITATIONAL AT COLONIAL
COURSE: Colonial Country Club (7,204 yards, par 70).
PURSE: $6.4 million. Winner’s share: $1,152,000.

CANADIANS IN THE FIELD:  Graeme DeLaet T22 -6 64 67 69 74, David Hearn MC +2 64 78

Round 4 notes
pgatour.com  Boo Weekley finished at 14-under 266 for a one-stroke victory over Matt Kuchar, the second- and third-round leader who had a closing 68. He picked up 500 FedExCup points for the win, and moved to sixth in the standings.

Defending Colonial champion Zach Johnson, who also won at Hogan's Alley in 2010, shot a 66 to finish third at 12 under for his first top-10 finish this season.

Both of Weekley's previous wins had been at Harbour Town, in 2007 and 2008. Like the RBC Heritage winner, the Colonial champion gets a plaid jacket, though the 2008 Ryder Cup team member wasn't able to compare any differences between them.

Graham DeLaet started the day T2 and began his round with a birdie, but 6 bogey's later 74 dropped him 20 places to T22

EUROPEAN TOUR - BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIP
COURSE: Wentworth Club, West Course (7,302 yards, par 72).
PURSE: $6.1 million. Winner’s share: $1,016,890.

Round 4 notes   (final)
Matteo Manassero became the youngest BMW PGA Championship winner in history at the age of 20 after a thrilling play-off victory at Wentworth Club.

The Italian finished level with 2010 winner Simon Khan and Scotland’s Marc Warren on ten under par after 72 holes, but after Warren exited at the first play-off hole having driven into trees down the right, the two remaining players looked inseparable.

It was the fourth additional trip down the 18th that eventually split Manassero and Khan – the latter finding water with his second while Manassero fired a brilliant approach to 20 feet and two-putted for birdie.

Round 4 notes (final)
pgatour.com  Kohki Idoki’s first trip to the United States will always be a memorable one. A long-time player on the Japan Golf Tour, Idoki surprised a star-studded field with a two-stroke victory over Jay Haas and Kenny Perry to win the 74th Senior PGA Championship. Perry started the day with a two-stroke advantage over Jay Haas and looked to be in control with birdies on three of his first five holes, but failed to make a birdie until the final hole when the contest had been decided. Idoki started five strokes back, but played a bogey-free round and took the lead for good when he made a 15-foot downhill birdie putt at No. 17.

Kohki Idoki, who resides in Osaka, becomes the first Asian player to win a major championship on the Champions Tour and he earns a full one-year exemption (thru May 26, 2014) on Tour as well as a five-year exemption into the season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai.

Idoki’s earns a check for $378,000 as well as 756 points in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup race based on double points being awarded at all five Champions Tour major championships

Both Jim Rutledge (64) and Rod Spittle (71) had great week's finishing -6, T6

Lee’s win ended a wild week on the LPGA where severe weather dumped more than a foot of rain on the tournament course on Tuesday. Recovery efforts by golf course staff from Wednesday through Saturday morning resulted in 45 million gallons of rain water being pumped off the tournament course.

Entering the week, Lee had four career top-10 finishes, including a previous career-best tie for third at the 2013 Kingsmill Championship. She also tied for fourth at the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open.

When Lee joined the LPGA in 2010, she spoke no English. Determined to learn, she stayed each tournament week in private housing with a new family to force herself to speak the language.

Final Wrap

ncaa.com  Southern Cal junior Sophia Popov remembered the pain of a year ago when the Trojans lost a five-stroke lead late in the final round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship, falling to Alabama in the end by a single stroke
.
So she and her teammates took nothing for granted even after they built a big lead in the 2013 championships, keeping their wits about them yesterday as the Trojans rolled to the national championship by 21 shots against the rest of the field.

Their 72-hole total of 1,133 strokes for 19-under-par obliterated the previous NCAA championship record set by UCLA in 2004 by a whopping 15 strokes and left no wiggle room for anyone to come back on them this time.
