Will Tiger make it #8 at Firestone ??

When we were all speculating back in March as to when Tiger would return, many of us wrote about Tiger having a great chance to win at the majors because of his success at Augusta, Pebble Beach and St Andrews.

How has that worked out ?? Not so much..... However... If there was ever a course in what's left of his schedule that he simply owns, it's this week at Firestone CC south..

He has won a record 7 times on this track. 3 times in a row from 99-01, including an 11 shot win in 2000 with an amazing -21, 259 total, (same year he won the US Open by 15 at Pebble Beach, and the Open Championship by 8 at St Andrews) and 3 times again from 05-07, and of course he is also the defending champ.

He seems to have sorted out his driver and irons but the putts haven't been falling thus far, this could be the week. Of course we have no idea what's happening on the home front, and until that is sorted out it doesn't matter what's going on between the ropes.

Mike Weir was 10th here last year.

Here's where they are all playing this week.

TPC Twin Cities (7,100 yards, par 72).

Defending champion: Bernhard Langer .

Just a word about Langer. He is simply amazing. He is in the same shape physically as he was when he was 30. Remember this guy had the yips so bad halfway through his career he tried putting every way except for standing on his head. The long putter is now one of his strengths and I often wonder where his career would have ended if that club as I have suggested previously, was banned.

However to win the Senior Open at Carnoustie, the the US Senior last week at Sahalee is a testament to his inner strength and steely determination. Now of course he is the defending champ this week !!

Wichita Open
