TEE TIMES, 152nd Open 2024

R&A : the152nd Open, Royal Troon GC, Ayrshire, Scotland Tee Times

158 players have qualified for this 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon in Ayrshire on Scotland's SW coast.

Weather

There is a lot of rain in the forecast on and off over 3 of the 4 days and right into next week, much like it was on the east coast at the Renaissance last week for the Scottish Open.

Not torrential at all, most heavy at 61% Saturday afternoon.

Most important, the wind.

Thursday: 21 km/h SSW at it's peak mid afternoon

Friday : 19 km/h SW at it's peak late afternoon

Saturday:  19 km/h SW at it's peak late afternoon

Sunday:  26 km/h W at it's peak in the afternoon

So not a howling gale, nor torrential rain but a damp/wet overcast week with the most significant wind from the W Sunday afternoon for the leaders.

Brian Harman The Open-1567098860

Brian Harman was an impressive winner at Royal Liverpool 12 months ago

Brian Harman, the little American lefty put on a putting clinic at Royal Liverpool last year, to beat all these guys by 6 shots.

There are so many storylines at this, the best of the majors, in the weather, at the home of golf in Scotland.

Here are some:

*LIV  you will see guys like Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton , Abraham Ancer, Bryson DeChambeau, Henrik Stenson, Louis Oosthuizen, Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka, all who are still allowed to play the majors, but who have been playing amongst themselves for the Saudi money, in obscurity the rest of the year on the LIV

* Ernie Els just won his first major on the PGA Tour Champions last week has won two Opens, 2002 at Muirfield, and 2012 at Royal Lytham & St Annes

* other old champs like Zach Johnson, Jon Daly, Justin Leonard, Todd Hamilton, Darren Clark, Stewart Cink

* Young guns like Min Woo Lee, Ryo Hisatsune, Ludvig Aberg, Tom Kim, Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard and Akshay Bhatia

* Tiger Woods with a generous 1437hr (2.37pm) tee time with red hot Xander Schauffele and the quiet assassin Patrick Cantlay.

* Rory with Max Homa and Tyrrell Hatton at 10.09am

* Scottish working class hero Bob MacIntyre after his historic win last week with Tommy Fleetwood and Jon Rahm at 9.36.

* Chambeau, Aberg and Kim at 9.47 are 3 of the hottest properties in the world right now.

Canadians

8.03    Nick Taylor, Matt Wallace, Laurie Canter

9.14    Adam Hadwin, Lucas Glover, Christiaan Bezuidenhout

12.20  Corey Conners, Ryan Fox, Jorge Campillo

1532   Mac Hughes, Emiliano Grillo, Ben Griffin

Conners T10 last week at the Scottish Open.

The sun doesn't set here at this time of year until 945pm (2145hrs) which is why the last group don't go out until 4.30pm (1630 hrs)
