R&A..the 152nd Open Leaderboard
Thank goodness for Shane Lowry !!! 66 69 -7..
After Rory and so many others blew their collective brains out on Thursday as Mother Nature and the age old test that is Royal Troon set the standard for this week where bogey is good, par is great, birdies are priceless.
I thought they were just playing right into the hands of Scottie Scheffler who has now parred 24 of the 36 holes 70,70 -2 T4.
The player of the year needs no help..you may have noticed.
With only 10 players under par and more of the same weather Saturday and a promise of a bright light Sunday afternoon, Shane with a resounding birdie at the 36th is the class of the field with evergreen putting machine Justin Rose 69 68 -5 and upstart Dan Brown 65 72 -5 in the frame at 1,2.2.
That separation may prove critical come Sunday afternoon, with birdies as rare as hen's teeth.
This is the joy of the Open...without them, -2 after 36 holes would be the lead..The cut fell at +6
Canadians
Corey Conners has made the cut for the Canadians..71 70 -1 good enough T7.
Mac Hughes is T13 69 74 +1
Adam Hadwin +10 75 77 and Nick Taylor 76 75 +8 have missed the cut
more to follow..
