Lydia Ko defends her Evian Championship in France

Despite the fact the PGA Tour is off this week before the season finale at the Tour Championship, it's another busy, important weekend of golf including the LPGA/LETs final major, the Evian Championship in France where Lydia Ko defends so let's start there.

The morning wave is already in the clubhouse with a little South Korean, and former US Open winner, In Gee Chun in the lead -8 63. She fuelled that score by hitting 18 greens in regulation.

The weather forecast for Friday and Saturday is cool and wet, so this beautiful mountain resort course near Lake Geneva will be a tough, trying test for the full field.

There are 3 Canadians in the field.  Maude Aimee LeBlanc played early, -1 70. Alena Sharp and Brooke Henderson are in the afternoon wave.

Defending champion Lydia Ko has a lot of demands on her time this week, playing two pro-ams and being requested to attend and speak at 5 dinners, not to mention all of her media interviews and autograph sessions. I think the organizers forget she is there to play a major championship.
